I am having big problems with spammed trackbacks on this blog.
In the same way that people learnt how to automate comments to blogs and then flood them with links to porn sites, Viagra etc, they are now concentrating on trackbacks.
Most blog companies – including the one I host this blog with – now have that little authentication box which requires human input to get a comment posted. Of course this has done the wonderful job of virtually killing comment spamming dead.
But for the past week, I have been flooded with spammed trackbacks. Literally 100 at a time. And it's beginning to get on my nerves. In fact it's got to the point where it there was a genuine trackback in there, I have probably deleted it because I don't have time to go through each trackback and check it.
I'm amazed that the blog companies didn't see this coming and introduce the exact same authentication technique to trackbacks when they did it to comments. Anyway, it will have to very soon or I will have to turn the trackback feature off on all my posts.
