Brazil and football. If my calculations are correct, England will win its World Cup game against Portugal on Saturday and then lose on the Wednesday to Brazil. In many ways this would be better than beating Brazil and losing to either Germany or Argentina in the final. That would be too unbearable. And losing to Brazil has to be the most honourable defeat.
It was inevitable then that with the next meeting being held in Brazil in December that the dull presentation given each time at the open board meeting by the host of the next meeting would be livelier than usual.
As it was. A tombola of business cards led to the Brazil delegates hurling footballs into the audience, risking the destruction of the ubiquitous laptops on people’s legs. It provided some light relief and made the next two hours bearable. Maybe we should have more of these – introduced every two hours to keep people functioning.
I got some snaps.
